Mr. Hassouba is a senior legal advisor at Barakat, Maher & Partners in association with Clyde & Co and is based in the Cairo office. He is a highly regarded lawyer with over 40 years’ experience. Mr. Hassouba advises Egyptian and non-Egyptian entities on complex and high-value disputes, corporate, and regulatory matters. He has commented on the drafting of many of the current commercial and regulatory laws and codes of Egypt.

Mr. Hassouba advises clients in the banking, construction, defence, and marine sectors.
Mr. Hassouba is currently a board member of the Export Development Bank of Egypt and previously was a board member of the Egyptian Holding Company for Airport and Air Navigation.
Prior to joining Clyde & Co, Mr. Hassouba led the litigation practice at Baker McKenzie in Cairo, Egypt.
Mr. Hassouba is fluent in Arabic and English.
Experience
Prior to joining Clyde & Co:
- Advising a multinational construction company in the annulment procedures of an arbitral award issued under CRCICA rules.
- Advising a multinational Libyan company in the interim measures relating to the liquidation of disputed bonds.
- Advising a major Egyptian contractor in a multi-million USD arbitration under UNCITRAL rules against the employer on alleged breaches and compensation claims and representing the client in the enforcement procedures of the related arbitral award.
- Advising a multinational developer in suspending the enforcement procedures of an arbitral award relating to a major residential development.
