Rachel Farnworth is an Associate in the Healthcare Team, based out of the Manchester office.  

Rachel is an experienced litigation solicitor having started in Clyde & Co’s Catastrophic Injury & Large Loss team. For over 9 years Rachel advised insurers and self-insured companies in the defence of employers and public liability claims, often involving complex personal injuries. Rachel has an excellent record of successfully defending claims at trial or securing discontinuances in her clients' favour.

In April 2023 Rachel moved to the Healthcare Team and now advises on a range of claims against medical professionals. Rachel represents health care professionals and NHS Trusts facing clinical negligence claims, through practitioners own private insurance/indemnity arrangements or through NHS Resolution.

Rachel is experienced in defending claims involving orthopaedic injuries, colorectal surgery and has particular experience in ADR and group actions.

Rachel is also a social mobility mentor and actively involved in the firms global culture ambassador network. 

Experience
  • Acting on behalf of medical defence organisations to represent their insureds/members in clinical negligence claims. 
  • Acted for a medical defence organisation in a Multi Party Group Action involving one of its members.
  • Successfully defended a matter involving the delayed diagnosis of a tumour in the distal sigmoid colon.
  • Successfully achieved a strike out in a claim involving a neurological condition and death following discharge from hospital.
