Walid is an associate in the corporate group at Barakat, Maher & Partners in association with Clyde & Co and is based in the Cairo office. He advises local and international clients on initial public offerings (IPOs), bonds, sukuk issuances, securitisations, capital increases, mergers and acquisitions, demergers, restructurings, regulatory aspects and registration of investment funds, and other corporate, capital markets and commercial transactions.

Walid has worked with clients operating in the aviation, FinTech, healthcare, hospitality, insurance, real estate, and retail and consumer sectors.
Walid is a member of the Egyptian Bar Association. He graduated with a Master of Laws degree (LLM) in Public Law from Cairo University in 2018, and a Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) from Sharjah University in 2014.
Walid is fluent in Arabic, English, and French.

Corporate/M&A
- Advising Gulf Insurance Group K.S.C.P. (GIG), a leading insurance provider in the Middle East and North Africa, on its merger with AIG Egypt, marking the first merger in Egypt’s private-sector insurance industry.
- Advising Arabia Investments Holding, a company listed on the Egyptian Exchange, on the 98 per cent sale of Arabian International Contracting through a Debt-to-Equity Swap.
- Advising Capital for Securitization and Bedaya Mortgage Finance Co. (Bedaya) on the EGP 843 million securitization issuance for Bedaya, the first tranche of what is expected to be a total of a four-tranche programme with a value of EGP 3 billion.
- Advising Gig-Egypt on the transaction to acquire 100 per cent of AIG Egypt through a mandatory tender offer.
- Advising GlaxoSmithKline Services Unlimited (GSK Group) on the demerger of its consumer healthcare business to form global consumer healthcare company, Haleon Group at a value of GBP 55 million (approximately USD 63.8 million).
- Advising the Sovereign Fund of Egypt (TSFE) on its partnership with Etisalat Egypt by e& and Mr. Amr Aboelazm to launch Erada Microfinance company and provide micro and small enterprises with access to a wide range of financial services and a set of innovative financial products.
- Conducting a Vendor Due Diligence over an insurance company, a microfinance company, and a micro financial leasing company.
Equity Capital markets
- Advising Banque du Caire, as issuer’s counsel, in relation to the potential listing of 20-30 per cent of its shares on the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) and 10 per cent of its shares as Global Depository Receipts (GDR) on the London Stock Exchange (LSE).
- Advising Banque Misr's Management Company in its first private placement issuance of EGP 360 million, which was fully subscribed for by Banque Misr, Banque du Caire, Misr Insurance Holding Company and Allianz Insurance.
Debt capital markets
- Advising Capital for Securitization on the EGP 1,780,500,000 securitization bonds issuance for the mortgage portfolio of Bedaya Mortgage Finance Co. (Bedaya), the third tranche in the programme with an expected total value of EGP 10 billion.
- Advising Capital for Securitization on the EGP 1,415,500,000 securitization bonds issuance for the mortgage portfolio of Bedaya Mortgage Finance Co, the second of its kind within a programme of an aggregate value of EGP 3 billion
- Advising Pioneers Properties for Urban Development on the first issuance program of securitization bonds for a real estate portfolio in Egypt. The total value of the securitization bond program is EGP 3 billion within several tranches.
- Advising Tanmeyah Micro Enterprise Services on the first issuance programme of short-term securitization bonds for a microfinance loan portfolio in Egypt. The total value of the securitization bond programme is EGP 3 billion in a programme of several tranches. Advising the issuer in relation to the issuance of corporate bonds and listing same on the Egyptian Exchange (EGX).
