Hannah is an English qualified, Hamburg-based maritime lawyer who deals with all aspects of contentious and non-contentious shipping and energy. She specialises in charterparty, bills of lading, yachting and marine insurance issues, and has been involved in many London maritime arbitration and High Court cases. In the offshore wind sector Hannah has experience of negotiations for charters, vessel reservation and services agreements.
Hannah is part of the English law team in Clyde & Co’s Hamburg office, after joining from another international law firm in 2021. Hannah is bilingual in German and English and able to work in both languages.
Hannah has experience in both contentious and non-contentious matters in the area of commercial shipping, insurance and energy. On the contentious side she often acts for shipowners, operators and their insurers in both London maritime arbitration and the English courts.
On the non-contentious side Hannah has been involved in drafting and advising on charterparty issues under time and voyage charters, contracts of affreightment, sale and purchase transactions, vessel reservation agreements and transport and installation contracts including in the offshore wind sector.
Experience
Charterparties – advising owners and charterers in relation to wide range of issues under bareboat, time and voyage charters including unseaworthiness, off-hire, bunker quality, redelivery and demurrage disputes.
Energy – negotiating vessel reservation agreements, charters, and services contracts in the offshore wind sector
Yachts and Superyachts – representing charterers in relation to liquidated damage claim for wrongful termination of charter under MYBA Form.
Marine – advising on ship arrests and steps to obtain the judicial sale of a vessel, including drafting appropriate security for release of a vessel.
Charterparties – advising on and negotiating long-term charters and contracts of affreightment for wind turbine manufacturers.
Commercial litigation – acting for the successful creditor in CPR Part 85 proceedings in the High Court in relation to the execution of a writ of control.
