Alec is a partner in the Sydney office with significant experience in the financial services, tertiary education, health/life sciences, on-line media and entertainment and Government sectors who provides practical solutions for data privacy and security, cyber and information law, e-commerce including electronic contracting, digital and business transformations, Big Data analytics, IoT, Cloud, Blockchain/cryptocurrencies, tech procurement, sourcing, BPO and Multi-jurisdiction transactions, in these areas in the Asia Pacific.

Experience

Alec’s experience includes:

• Privacy review in respect of Census 2021 including risk and liability assessments and recommended actions to fix compliance gaps
• Comprehensive Privacy and Security audit of a key Australian regulator with recommendations to address areas of non-compliance and to achieve better practice
• Advice to and strategy for large Federal Govt Dept on Australia’s then largest data matching project 
• Audit of the Privacy compliance of Govt Dept's Digital Exchange as a key part of the Govt's  Digital Identity program
• Advice on and developing a comprehensive framework (including de-identification framework) for sharing and use of sensitive information for and in an AI product in the health sector
• Preparation of an AI/RPA framework (including regulatory compliance) for an ASX listed industrial company and advice on their first RPA project 
• Developing a Data Governance Framework for a major Australia health services provider
• Privacy audit with an assessment of risks and recommended actions for an Australian national broadcaster
• Advice on regulatory regime in Australia and Asia Pacific for the issue, use and redemption of asset backed digital tokens/cryptocurrency
• Mapping of Australian and regional privacy regimes and key Cloud Codes of Conduct against ISO 27701 for a major global tech company
• Advice on CPS 234 (and related standards) and preparation of guidance product for use by financial service organisation customers of a major global tech company
