Ignacio Arriagada in associate based in Santiago, working at our associated office Grasty Quintana Majlis since 2018, and from 2022 working at Clyde & Co Chile. His practice is focused on dispute resolution, both in ordinary and arbitration courts, with expertise representing and advising a broad range of clients, including insurance, aviation, healthcare and construction.
Ignacio has experience in disputes with state agencies, regulated market conflicts, and disputes related to the execution of public contracts. Also, he has advised insurance and reinsurance companies regarding coverage issues and regulatory matters. Likewise, Ignacio has advised clients in commercial and corporate disputes.
Ignacio studied at the School of Law of Universidad de Chile, obtaining a Law degree in 2018. Also in 2018, he completed a diploma program in Competition Law & Policy.
Experience
- Regulated markets – Ongoing counsel to a pharmaceutical company in their relations with different state agencies, mainly the Public Health Institute, including representation in administrative procedures, as well as disputes in ordinary courts at all levels.
- Construction & Public Contracts – Representation of a construction company in a dispute arisen after the improper termination of a public works contract.
- Insurance – Advising different local and international insurance and reinsurance clients in coverage disputes.
- Consumer Law – Ongoing counsel to a well-known sport shoes and apparel company, regarding consumer law matters.
- Finance & Social Security – Participation in the successful defence of a financial and social security institution in a dispute with the Ministry of Justice, which required the restructuration of the entity and ultimately requested its dissolution.
- Insurance & Regulatory – Participation in the successful defence of a local insurance company in an administrative procedure conducted by the Commission for the Financial Market (the local securities, bank and insurance regulatory agency).
- Aviation – Participation in the defence of a firefighting helicopter company regarding an incident that resulted in the death of a firefighter on land, in southern Chile.
