Overview

The Energy Transition, which is crucial in the world’s drive to net zero, focusses on three “Ds”: decarbonisation, decentralisation and digitisation. One of the important aspects of digitisation is the digitisation of contracts and the adoption of auto-executing “smart contracts”.

This session will take the form of a Q & A with a panel of legal, technical and industry experts, explaining the digitisation of contracts and practical applications for smart contracts, and exploring how this might drive the energy transition by enabling local mini- and microgrids, addressing intermittency of renewable energy and enabling grid balancing through energy trading.

The speakers are: Richard Power (Clyde & Co), Josh Graham (Clyde Code), Alexander Kunzelmann (UNCITRAL), Caroline Nicholas (UNCITRAL) and Margaret-Ann Splawn (Climate Markets and Investment Association).
