Global law firm Clyde & Co has been appointed as legal adviser to the Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) on the Gig Economy Sandbox.
DFF launched the sandbox under the Dubai Sandbox initiative, aimed to boost innovation and accelerate regulatory advancements in the Gig Economy.
A platform to test products under regulatory supervision
Sandbox Dubai is a centralised, innovative platform that offers a structured approach to regulatory modernisation, enabling innovators and companies to test their products, services, and business models under adaptive regulatory supervision. It aims to bring together stakeholders from both the public and private sectors to collaboratively shape regulations and accelerate regulatory modernisation across key industries.
The Gig Economy Sandbox aims to examine more flexible ways of working for residents of Dubai and inform relevant regulatory frameworks in key industries to ensure their readiness for the future.
Clyde & Co is acting as legal advisor, advising DFF on creating its Gig Economy Sandbox. Clyde & Co’s team is led by employment partner Ben Brown (Dubai).
Ben Brown said: “We are proud to be appointed as legal advisor on the Gig Economy Sandbox – a globally significant and innovative mandate, and an initiative that exemplifies Dubai’s forward-thinking approach to public-private collaboration, fostering innovation and sustainable growth. The Gig Economy initiative will support Dubai’s Economic Agenda (D33) which is focused on driving sustainable economic growth through innovative strategies and doubling the size of Dubai’s economy over the next decade, securing its position among the top three future economies. It’s exciting to see industry leaders like Emirates Airline, Amazon, Careem, and GEMS Education partnering with DFF to develop regulations that will advance the Gig Economy.”
