Clyde & Co hires Brisbane insurance partner to continue Australian and Global expansion

Global law firm Clyde & Co has today announced the hire of Partner David Kerwin, who joins the firm’s national insurance group, based in Brisbane.

David brings immense expertise in handling complex (and often novel) matters involving property risks, financial lines, D&O liability, professional indemnity, policy coverage and defence health/life insurance lines. He is an experienced litigator and widely recognised for his technical skills, commerciality and practical approach.

David will add depth to Clyde & Co’s market leading property and business interruption offering and he will be key in executing the firm’s commitment to the SME market.

David also offers deep insight into and practical experience of the London markets – gained in part from working in the UK for five years at Clyde & Co and from continuing to service London Market clients and Lloyd’s syndicates. He also acts for international and domestic composite insurers.

He joins from Barry.Nilsson and is the incumbent President of the Queensland Chapter of the Australian Professional Indemnity Group (APIG) and has served on the committee on various roles for many years. David brings with him an experienced team, including Special Counsels Stefanie Luhrs and Ewa Cholinska, Senior Associate Simone Shepherd and Associates Patrick Johnson and Mitchell Page.

David joins a strong and vibrant Brisbane partnership comprising Jacinta Long, Maxine Tills and Matthew Pokarier – each experienced and highly regarded operators in the insurance market.

David becomes the sixth Partner arrival in Australia this year, following Patrick Boardman (insurance), Jacques Jacobs (insurance), Damian Watkin (projects & construction), Alec Christie (cyber) and Tim Searle (insurance), who also re-joined the firm.
