Michael is a partner in Clyde & Co’s Singapore office and leads project finance transactions for the firm's Asia Projects and Infrastructure Group. With 20 years’ pan–Asian and Australian experience, Michael has a comprehensive understanding of complex infrastructure and structured finance transactions across the region.
Michael’s broad project finance and development experience includes airports, conference centers, desalination plants, gas pipelines and utilities, hospitals, hotels, military accommodations, office buildings, power generation, power transmission and sub-sea interconnects, serviced flats, stadiums, toll roads and tunnels. He has represented bank borrowers, bond issuers, lenders, bond guarantors, developers and construction companies.
Michael has led teams in both legal and business roles. He was previously the Managing Partner of the Singapore and Jakarta offices of a major international law firm and the Managing Director of the Asian and Australian offices of a AAA-rated financial institution specializing in long-term infrastructure and structured finance solutions. Michael has served as Chief Risk Officer of Indonesia Infrastructure Finance, Indonesia's sovereign wealth entity for infrastructure finance and development, at which Michael also served as Head of the Credit Committee and a member of the Board of Directors.
Michael is a 1989 honors graduate of Harvard Law School, a Fulbright Scholar (Bonn, 1985-86) and a 1985 honors graduate of Tufts University. He speaks fluent Bahasa Indonesia and German.
