Karen Earl

Since beginning her practice over fifteen years ago, Ms. Earl has been involved in a variety of litigation matters focusing on general insurance and risk management, including municipal liability, police liability, occupier's liability, liquor liability, motor vehicle insurance including heavy commercial vehicles and accident benefits, professional negligence claims, property insurance, travel insurance and product liability. She has appeared at all levels of the Ontario Superior Court and the Ontario Court of Appeal, as well as the Financial Services Commission of Ontario.

Ms. Earl is ranked by The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory as Repeatedly Recommended in Personal Injury.

Ms. Earl held the position of Vice-Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Insurance Section of the Ontario Bar Association in 2005. She was also the Ontario Bar Association representative on the Joint Insurance Committee responding to the Minister of Finance's request for input on Auto Reform. She has spoken on bad faith claims against insurers, litigation/solicitor client privilege and punitive damages claims.

Ms. Earl is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, Ontario Bar Association, the Advocates' Society, the Canadian Defence Lawyers Association and the Metropolitan Toronto Lawyers' Association. Additionally, in July 2003 she successfully completed training as a mediator at CDR & Associates in Boulder, Colorado.

Prior to joining Clydes, Ms. Earl was the managing partner of the Toronto office of Nicholl Paskell-Mede LLP.

Ms. Earl is the Managing Partner of the Toronto office of Clyde & Co. Canada LLP and is a member of the firm's Canadian Management Board.
