Clare has been a consultant at Clyde & Co since 1988. She specialises in international projects and transactions in the energy and commodities sectors. She also advises on energy and commodity derivatives and regulation including international sanctions and anti bribery and corruption compliance. Clare is ranked in Legal 500, UK where it was noted that "Clare Hatcher is ‘well tuned in and firm at the negotiating table’".
Clare has over 20 years experience in advising clients in the power, oil and gas and trading sectors. She was formerly legal director of a commodity trader and has direct commercial experience of trading. She has considerable experience of international sanctions regimes and their impact on international trade. Clare acts for state owned energy companies, international trading companies, banks and insurers.
Clare has particular expertise in the power and sustainable and renewable energy sector and has worked on a number of ground breaking projects in this sector.
Clare is a member of the London based Futures and Options Association Energy and Emissions Trading Committee, the Energy Institute and the CLLS Energy Committee. She speaks regularly at conferences on commodities and energy related regulation and has lectured on energy derivatives for the Oxford Princeton Programme for the College of Petroleum and Energy Studies
